Heading home to VaBeach after an outstanding pilgrimage!!❤️🍀✝️
Ireland youth pilgrimage- Day 6-(was posted earlier and we can’t see it here in Ireland) Today we visited the Aran islands. Once we arrived we all picked out the bikes that we wanted and rode them to several religious sites. It was a beautiful day and everybody had a wonderful time listening to our tour guide Cyril.-Elliott
Day 8-Ireland Pilgrimage-Today my fellow pilgrims and I conquered the great Croagh Patrick. While we ended our 7 hour trek with tired eyes and aching feet, the view from the top was like nothing any of us had ever seen before. Not only that, but on the way down we were privileged with the opportunity to witness Mountain Rescue save a woman on the mountain. Through all, I think the message we took home with us was that in life, nothing worthwhile is ever easy, and nothing easy is ever worthwhile. -Doug
Ireland Youth Pilgrimage- Day 9- Today was our last day of exploring Ireland. We explored the city of Galway. We took a guided tour of Galway, visited Saint Nicholas’s church and Galway city museum. After we went to the Galway city museum we had a little extra time to shop in the medieval streets of Galway. Everyone got something for themselves or family. After everyone finished shopping we meet up to have lunch at The Quay. My favorite part was trying to find the gifts for my family. Thank you parents for letting everyone go on this pilgrimage. Sincerely Izaiah.
Day 6- Today we visited the Bridget sisters center and St. Bridget’s Cathedral to learn more about her as a saint. We learned a lot about how she treated others and how we can apply those lessons to modern day interactions in our own lives. I really enjoyed listening to what the sisters and the deacon had to say and learn more about the culture of Ireland and the Anglican Church. -Drake
Tuesday Day 5- Today we visited Glendalough and St. Kevin’s Monastic city. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful experience with Father Pat Murphy. We were definitely able to deeply explore our faith today. -Delaney
Day 4-Today we went to Newgrange. It was really cool to see when the artificial sunlight came though and you could see what it would look like during a solstice. It’s crazy to think they built this so long ago and it’s stayed in great condition. We walked around for a little bit and Delaney, Abby, and I took some jumping selfies. Then we had a bus ride with Owen to Trinity College where the Book of Kells is located. Before we went into the college we had the legendary fish and chips of Ireland. We walked around and saw the book and learned more history about it. There is a new theory that maybe the Brigidine sister wrote it instead of the four scribes. We walked around and did a little shopping. Then we had another long bus ride to the next hotel. At this hotel there was no wifi so everyone played cards with each other. It was really cool to see the Book of Kells since that was my research topic and now I saw it in person. -Kaytlin
Pilgrims are now back in an area with internet aka Galway!! Everyone is doing really well (despite being without their phones for 48 hrs).-Rev Julia
pilgrimage Day 2:Today, we had breakfast at the Newgrange BnB. We got on the bus and left for St. Patrick Cathedral, Armagh for a service. After that, we left for Downpatrick (St Patrick) and got to explore and learn about the church, which is centuries old. We then left for Paul's Church, which was originally a barn with an upside down boat on it. On our way back to Newgrange, everyone took a nap on the bus. When we got back, we went to dinner and then headed back to the BnB.-Abby
Ireland Pilgrimage Day One: we arrived safe and tired to explore Causey Farm. We baked bread for our lunch (with Christian symbolism) and went bog jumping (unexpected fun). Circle and journal time at the lodge brought our first day to a close with great expectations for this journey!-Maureen
